UVA Law Graduation

How about this for symmetry?

Tex and Rachel graduated from the University of Virginia Law School yesterday on the one-year anniversary of their engagement (in Paris last year) and found out (total surprise) that they had been selected as the co-recipients of the Pro Bono Award which “…recognizes the student(s) in the graduating class who exhibit the most extraordinary commitment to pro bono legal service during his or her years at the Law School. The award is the highest recognition offered through the Law School's voluntary pro bono program, which encourages all students to provide at least 75 hours of free legal services to the indigent.”

This award is particularly relevant for these two because they met for the first time while doing pro bono work at the Legal Aid Justice Center in Charlottesville.

Further still, they are today en route to Knoxville where they will both clerk (in separate terms) for the same federal judge in the Eastern District of Tennessee.

So yeah, wow, lots of symmetry/karma going on with these two.

Here are some photos from graduation day.

Virginia is for Pro Bono Lovers

Fortunately Tex now has someone to keep him looking proper.

Mr. Jefferson's Rotunda in the background.

The Lawn Ceremony is held at the Academical Village that Jefferson envisioned in 1789 and brought to fruition in 1817. It was a mass conferring of degrees in the morning for all of the various graduate schools in the University.

The graduation ceremonies for the 300 or so law students was held at the law school on the North Grounds in the early afternoon.

We checked in with TJ.

And got the new sticker on the window in the trailer.
